A common question people ask is, “What happens to the victims once they are rescued?”  Once rescued, the victims are in government care; social services, child protective services, human services, or whichever government agency is working with the victim(s). They ultimately decide the steps and journey that victim will take through their pipeline of victims assistance and care.  Non-profits and non-government organizations have no authority to decide where the victim will go.  However, we are keenly aware of this process for the victims, and we have developed relationships with those who make decisions for the victims.  This allows us to track and follow the rescued victim’s path post-rescue, to make sure they are receiving the best care possible, as it relates to our ability to have influence or input.

After years of looking at this process immediately after a rescue operation has been successfully executed, regardless of the short or long-term journey an individual has in aftercare, we have found what we believe is the best place to utilize our expertise and skills as an organization to affect the best outcome possible for those on the recovery journey.

DHG is excited to announce that in March 2023, we will be launching our mental wellness restoration program, THRIVE.

THRIVE

Our program will be the gold standard of care and best-in-class mental health toolkit to treat the significant and underlying trauma that all victims of human trafficking endure.

Target Audience

Our target audience is the mental health practitioners (psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors and social workers) who work with and serve victims of human trafficking in the following areas (both domestic and globally):

• Government Shelters/Social Services/Child Protective Services
• Aftercare shelters and homes
• Private practice mental health practitioners working with rescued victims

How

As previously stated, talk therapy while helpful, is not effective by itself in the long-term restorative journey of victims of human trafficking.   This program is designed as a “train-the-trainer” system with our expert in-house mental health team training and assessing the respective trainers through a hands-on approach, working with victims and trainers, together. Our program will certainly use talk therapy training as a means to understand the victim’s story, and also as a means for patient assessment.  Based on the findings and identified needs, the following trauma treatment modalities will be employed as appropriate:

• Polyvagal Therapy
• EMDR- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
• BST-Brain synchronization treatment
• Biofeedback
• Tapping-Meridian treatment
• Dialectic Behavior Treatment (DBT)

Who

We know that victim populations vary greatly in terms of age, therefore there will be unique assessment and treatment protocols for the following age groups:

• Pre-teen
• Teen
• Adult

The Offer

Dark Horse Global will offer its mental wellness restoration program and expertise, free of charge, to our target audience in the following capacities:

• Consultative Review of existing programs and treatment modalities for both government and private programs.
• Targeted training in specific trauma protocol(s) that might not be known as options by a care facility or practitioner.
• Comprehensive training in Dark Horse Global’s mental wellness restoration program, THRIVE.
• Ongoing training and education opportunities for those we work with.
