Human trafficking, perhaps the worst of all criminal offenses, has become a lightning rod topic, stirring various efforts of the well intentioned to address this horrific human rights violation.  Many people have a visceral response to modern day slavery, and while a heart motivated to do good and serve others is both right and admirable, it isn’t enough when confronting the pandemic of exploitation befalling the vulnerable and poor, globally or around the world today.

A problem this vast and complex demands thoughtful and strategic solutions.  While intervention isn’t the sole answer to combating and eradicating human trafficking, it is a critically important one.  There are many other avenues to attacking this problem: education and awareness, robust legislative reform, demand-reduction, aftercare, and aggressive prosecution, to name a few.  All of these efforts need to work in harmony to have the greatest impact when it comes to effectively altering the landscape of human trafficking. It’s one thing to identify the various ways to attack the problem, and another to know how to execute in a way that provides sustainable change.
